In response to increasing demand, we are pleased to announce that the Vinpro Technical Harvest Report 2025 will provide an even deeper reservoir of technical insights, comprehensively covering the South African wine-growing regions.
This year’s harvest tells a compelling story of resilience and excellence. A season marked by sustained mild and dry conditions has culminated in the production of high-quality grapes, as confirmed by early estimates from viticulturists and producer cellars. These findings validate initial trends observed at the outset of the season and underscore the favourable growing conditions experienced across many regions.
The 2024 post-harvest period set the stage for the successful season. Warm, dry, and windy conditions facilitated optimal canopy performance and the accumulation of crucial carbohydrate reserves. However, below-average autumn and early winter rainfall delayed initial vineyard recovery. This trajectory shifted dramatically in July, when record rainfall led to flooding along several riverbanks for the third consecutive year, though the impact was largely confined to infrastructure.
Fortunately, the winter rains replenished critical water reserves, ensuring adequate irrigation capacity throughout the 2025 growing season.
The forthcoming report will offer detailed observations and regional breakdowns, providing producers, viticulturists, and industry stakeholders with the technical foresight required to optimise strategic planning and vineyard management for the year ahead.
