The latest wine industry and viticultural trends and research are at your doorstep through Winetech and Vinpro’s series of Regional Information Days which will take place from 4 to 25 May.

“Themed Embracing WISE for change, this year’s sessions, presented in collaboration with Syngenta, will take place in six wine grape growing regions,” says Conrad Schutte, Vinpro consultation service manager.

“From healthy soils to efficient support structure, the information we share on these days provides the ideal opportunity for wine grape producers, cellar representatives, viticulturists and other role-players in the wine industry to equip themselves with knowledge for the year ahead.”

With loadshedding a very real reality at farm level and one that likely won’t go away soon, Vinpro expert agriculture economist, Pierre-André Rabie, will share some thoughts on best practices to cost cutting, as well as considerations around solar power systems and energy storage.

Other topics to be discussed will vary from alternative power in the light of the current loadshedding crisis, the management of fungal diseases, specifically powdery mildew, a focus on consumer-orientated wine production and the changes within the South African wine industry bodies that is eminent this year.
