Nomophobia was nominated by the Cambridge dictionary as its word of the year for 2018.  I can hear you ask: “nomo what?”  Yes, this is the time of the year where analysis and surveys are done to determine either the most used word or phrase for 2019.  Nomophobia means:  a fear or worry at the idea of being without your mobile phone or unable to use it.  Does it make sense? This made me think about the Vinpro group and the words or phrases that would best describe our 2019 year?

Words that jumped to my mind were:

#challenges drought, political uncertainty, unrest, economic recession, and export volumes significantly lower.

#collaboration significant improvement in Vinpro group, other business units and with a number of partners.

#relationships – “it starts with you”.

#innovation – WineLand business model, Wine MS2.0, production plan refined, Vititec new clones, etc.

#progress – training, wine tourism toolkit, Gen-Z project, local market, enterprise development, communication

#impact legislation changes due to our advocacy, labour related matters and producers being more profitable.

#senseofbelonging – Vinpro family.

#sustainability – our producers, our businesses, our development of talent ….and obviously # strongertogether after a World Cup win!

Voorafgaande prestasies is net moontlik omdat elke persoon binne Vinpro sy of haar taak met soveel passie en entoesiasme verrig en nie moed opgee wanneer die bult effe steil raak nie! Baie dankie hiervoor – dit gaan regtig nie ongesiens verby nie.  Ek wens vir elkeen ʼn geseënde feesseisoen toe – skakel af en herlaai die batterye. Lag, lees, kuier en drink bietjie wyn ook.

Ek sien uit na 2020.

In the words of Michael Josephson: “Take pride in how far you’ve come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey.”
