Charl du Plessis is Vinpro’s board member for the Northern Cape region.

Charl du Plessis, CEO of Orange River Cellars, has been appointed as the new Vinpro board member for the Northern Cape region.

Charl has been at the helm of Orange River Cellars since the beginning of 2018. The company is the second largest co-operative wine cellar in the southern hemisphere, with approximately 600 producer members and an annual production of close to 60 million litres of wine and grape juice concentrate. He also has extensive experience in the ostrich and fruit export and packing industries.

His appointment as a Vinpro director comes after the resignation of Albert Brink, who represented the region since 2009.

“We are grateful for Albert’s contribution over the past 12 years, and are excited that Charl will now add his expertise to the Vinpro board so that together we can take the organisation and South African wine industry forward,” says Vinpro chairman Anton Smuts.
