The latest VinPro Cost Guide was just released – an essential source of financial guidelines for wine grape production in South Africa.
“The wine industry remains under pressure and informed, accurate decision-making is a greater priority than ever before. The VinPro Cost Guide 2013/14 is an important tool for every wine producer, winemaker and viticulturist involved in farm planning,” says Pieter van Niekerk, VinPro agro-economist who compiled the guide with colleague Andries van Zyl.
The guide is based on figures from the 2013 Production Plan Survey – an annual financial analysis at farm level – as well as other relevant information. This includes:
• Production cost per district
• Target income guidelines
• Labour norms
• Establishment cost
• Mechanisation costs
Due to sponsorships from Orchard Suppliers, Netafim, Terason/Villa Crop Protection, Hauptfleisch Earthmoving and Boshoff Visser, the guide is distributed to VinPro members, winemakers and viticulturists for free with the June edition of WineLand magazine.
